Lucknow's Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium will soon host a key domestic first-class cricket competition, according to an important announcement from the Indian domestic cricket circuit.
The 2024-25 Irani Cup game, which was supposed to be held in Mumbai from October 1 to 5, has been shifted to Lucknow. Mumbai, the current Ranji Trophy winners, will take on a team from Rest of India chosen by the national selection committee. The decision was made in light of Mumbai's prolonged monsoon, which may have had an impact on this special five-day match.
Sources claim that one of the reasons for the location change was the extended Monsoon, which left the groundskeepers with insufficient time to get the wicket ready for the esteemed tournament,

Mumbai, the 42-time Ranji Champions, will play the ROI this time. Mumbai, captained by Ajinkya Rahane, defeated Vidarbha in the thrilling final held at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium to win the Ranji Trophy.
The Irani Cup has been played since 1962. Mumbai has won it 14 times, compared to 30 times for the rest of India.
